“ To create fine art that honors the natural world and people within it. “

One part nature, one part people. How do we use art to honor both?

honor the natural world:

  • Using sustainable packaging options when possible and practical.

  • Focusing on whole, natural fibers and materials.

  • Upcycling bits and bobbles to support the artistic process.

  • Working with companies that support environmental sustainability.

  • Highlighting nature in Minnesota and beyond as a core element of artistic expression.

honor people:

  • Supporting local business over large companies when possible and practical.

  • Respect for people’s ideas, stories, and input as a cornerstone of the artistic process.

  • Uplifting others in all aspects of the business and artistic process.

  • Community over competition mindset

the story behind the name.

Kelli Sweeney is the owner of Regina North Art Co, and behind the name lies a beautiful story:

Regina was my great-grandmother. I knew her when I was small; when I was a child, she was well into her mid 90’s! She was kind, gentle, and calming to be around.

She went through a lot in her life; my great-grandfather was physically abusive. He did pass away in the 70’s, and after, she had quite a few years of gardening, crocheting, and shining!

When family and friends remember her, they say things like:

“She was an angel on earth.”

“She was the kindest, most positive person I have ever met.”

“She survived her life situation and lived as long as she did, because of her extremely positive outlook on life.”

“Regina loved being in her garden. She always had the most beautiful garden.”

“She is the most amazing person I have ever known.”

Regina was also a creator; a crocheter. One way she shared her love was by making all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren crochet blankets. She made an estimated 200 blankets, and did not miss even one person in the entirety of the family!

She died on Christmas day at the age of 96. At her funeral, anyone who could, brought and laid a kaleidoscope of beautiful crocheted blankets all across the room. It was so beautiful; I remember feeling happy at seeing all of the colors.

My great-grandmother left a legacy of resilience and love through her sustained positivity, her kindness, and her creations.

In my business, she is a reminder of humility, strength, resilience, and using your skills and creativity to care for the world and others.
